All Records shattered on 19th December Night when Mitchell Starc became the most expensive player in the IPL History. The 33-year old Australian seamer was bought by KKR for a whopping sum of ₹24.75cr at the auction.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Continued to have a minimal day in the IPL Auction 2023. With a powerful top order featuring Captain Faf Du Plesis, Virat Kholi, Rajat Patidar and Maxwell, RCB made a strategic investment by buying all-rounder Cameron Green from Mumbai Indians through trade in an all cash deal. RCB Couldn’t buy Bowler’s of their choice but were able to secure the services of West Indies pace bowler, Alzarri Joseph at a whopping sum of ₹11.50 crore.
Additionally, they Bought New Zealand's seamer Lockie Ferguson for ₹2 crore, and England's Tom Curran for ₹1.5 crore, to enhance their team's bowling options. RCB also added Indian left-arm Seamer Yash Dayal for ₹5 crore, Spin all-rounder Swapnil Singh for ₹20 lacs, along with wicketkeeper Saurav Chauhan for ₹20 lakh to complete their 25-member squad.
“We have got a strong core of retaining players, and we have got a very powerful top order.Part of the decision-making that we had around our player release decisions was to try and strengthen the middle order and bringing Cameron Green was a fantastic move,” Mo Bobat,the Director of Cricket for RCB had recently said at the RCB Innovation Lab’s Leaders Meet India.”
"We spent a lot of time talking about RCB and where we wanted to take the franchise. I think it's always really important that you do your homework and make sure you look at every area and talk it through," Du Plessis said.
RCB head coach Andy Flower too was happy with the acquisitions.
"It's really a strong top four with Virat (Kohli) and Faf (du Plessis), (Rajat) Patidar and (Glenn) Maxwell," he said. “Cameron Green who gives us that power somewhere in that top five.”
